Well, this is some thing i am going to try out, lets call it an experiment. I will attempt to churn out a piece of graffiti every week. It will be all hand drawn, some times coloured, some times not, and i will post here on the site. So, watch this space, you just might see something you like.

NYC Trip: Street Art

Wow, New York is littered in street art, and I love it! What I have here is again just a small selection of the many beautiful artworks, stickers, stencils, etc that can be seen through out New York City.

Amongst the graffiti i saw on rooftops and brick walls in New York some of my favorites where those sprayed on trucks. To see them driving down the road covered in graffiti was quite the sight.

NYC Trip: TAGS

Well I’m Back, from New York, and it was pretty awesome. Along with all the touristy things we did, my buddies and I managed to take some pretty dope pictures of the sick graffiti in the big apple. Now to my surprise, The NY Subways are not covered in Graffiti, this is especially so in Manhattan. In fact, not a single train I saw had been painted, which is disappointing considering NY is like the birth place of graffiti. However I did see a lot of throw-ups and tags, and After the trip was over I sort of figured the lack of graffiti in Manhattan like this: Because of NYPD’s strict reinforcement of no tolerance policies towards graffiti, Writers tend to not paint trains as the lay ups are guarded, and their work will be buffed with in 24-hours. Therefore, artists will fall-back on the benefit of having a 24-hour a day subways service. Hitting the insides of the trains with glass etch, markers, and scratch tools. On the streets, same thing goes. With the NYPD always on the look out pieces are hard to find, but tags and throw-us are every where. Some of the only places where I saw impressive graffiti was on roof tops, where I assume a writer actually has time to paint his shit. I was kind of disappointed with the lack of graffiti, but then again I was in Manhattan, which for the most part is a giant tourist island, so the real shit is most likely concentrated in the in the other Boroughs like the Bronx or Queens. Another thing that caught my attention was the large number of commissioned murals, during my trip I probably saw at least 7 or 8 whole wall murals, of high quality, I was goingto take pictures of one or two of these murals but my camera ran out of batteries that day so I only have a couple of pictures. Anyways, I will probably have to break this up in to multiple sections so here is the first: TAGS
